Rice is a second important crop in Iran and its cooking and eating quality plays important role for consumers. In order to improve yield and quality, a set of crosses among Amol3 and Sepidrood made with Domsiah Mashhad and Sange-Jo (Amol3 and Sepidrood belong to improved and Domsiah Mashhad and Sange-Jo belong to local varieties). The F1s is back crossed with local varieties as parents for two generations (BC2) and then handled upto BC2F5 generations. 13 promising lines with higher yield and quality were selected, their primary, advanced field and quality test done. Line DN-32-6 regarding to the yield and early maturity indicated better performance than Sang Tarom (check variety). This line with 118 cm height, tolerant to stem borer, resistant to blast disease and lodging including good physicochemical properties (amylose content 23.5, gel consistency 58.1, gelatinization temperature 6.77, grain length 11.6 mm and chalkless) almost similar to local good quality varieties yielded more then 5 tons/ha yield superior than local variety Sang Tarom with the average yield 3/65 tons/ha. The average yield of local varieties are around 3.5-4 tons/hectare
