استفاده از ارقام پرمحصول و مقاوم به خشکی در محصولات زراعی یکی از راهکارهای موثری است که در تلفیق سایر
روش­های مدیریت کم آبی می­تواند تأثیر این پدیده را به حداقل برساند. تحقیق حاضر برای رسیدن به­این هدف روی 100 ژنوتیپ گندم دوروم در شرایط بدون تنش و تنش خشکی صورت گرفت. ژنوتیپ­ها در هر آزمایش، در قالب طرح لاتیس در سه تکرار ارزیابی شدند.
نتایج تجزیه واریانس نشان داد که اختلاف ژنوتیپ­ها از لحاظ تمام صفات در هر دو شرایط آزمایش بسیار معنی­دار بوده و تنوع ژنتیکی زیادی را بین صفات نشان داد. تجزیه علیت برای عملکرد دانه نشان داد که بیشترین اثر مستقیم و مثبت توسط صفات مقدار کل ماده­خشک و کمترین اثر صفت تاریخ سنبله­دهی تا رسیدگی کامل بود. در شرایط تنش خشکی بیشترین اثر مستقیم و مثبت توسط صفت طول پدانکل بود در حالی­که تعداد سنبله، طول گیاه، مقدار کل ماده­خشک و تاریخ جوانه­زنی تا رسیدگی کامل دارای تأثیر مستقیم و منفی بود. تجزیه به عامل­ها در شرایط بدون تنش و تنش خشکی به­ترتیب 5/80 و 3/83 درصد از تغییرات را توجیه کرد. برای تعیین برآورد بهتر عملکرد دانه شاخص خشکی STI، SSI، MP، GMPو TOL محاسبه و مشخص گردید که بر اساس شاخص TOL ژنوتیپ­های 21، 45 و 3 و با توجه به شاخص­های MP، GMP و  STI ژنوتیپ­های 78، 34، 71، 21 و 45 دارای برترین پاسخ از لحاظ تحمل به خشکی بودند. براساس تجزیه خوشه­ای
ژنوتیپ­های مورد بررسی در هر دو شرایط در چهار گروه قرار گرفتند.
