نخود به‌عنوان سومین حبوبات مهم جهان نه‌تنها منبع مهمی برای تغذیه محسوب می‌گردد بلکه با افزودن نیتروژن باعث افزایش حاصلخیزی خاک می‌شود. این مطالعه باهدف بررسی تنوع ژنتیکی از طریق تخمین ضریب تغییرات فنوتیپی و ژنوتیپی، وراثت‌پذیری و پیشرفت ژنتیکی مورد انتظار صفات کمی در نخود انجام شد تعداد 27 ژنوتیپ‌ها در قالب طرح بلوک کامل تصادفی با 2 تکرار در پایگاه نوآوری شهرستان کامیاران کاشته شدند. نتایج تجزیه به مؤلفه‌های اصلی نشان داد که 4 مؤلفه اول تقریباً 3/78 % تنوع ژنوتیپ‌ها را برای صفات بررسی‌شده توجیه کردند. در این تحقیق بالاترین میزان وراثت­پذیری به ترتیب برای صفات وزن صد دانه  (88%)، تعداد روز تا گلدهی  (83%)، ارتفاع بوته (79%)، تعداد روز تا غلاف دهی  (66%)، تعداد روز تا رسیدگی  (61%) و تعداد دانه در غلاف  (55%) محاسبه شد. بالاترین مقدار واریانس ژنوتیپی و فنوتیپی برای عملکرد دانه به دست آمد از سویی بیشترین مقدار پیشرفت ژنتیکی نیز برای این صفت مشاهده شد لذا عملکرد دانه می‌تواند مهم‌ترین معیار برای انتخاب لاین‌های والدینی در برنامه‌های اصلاحی محسوب گردد. در تجزیه کلاستر با روش  ward ژنوتیپ­ها در 3 گروه قرار گرفتند و بالاترین فاصله ژنتیکی بین کلاستر1و 3 مشاهده شد لذا می‌توان از ژنوتیپ‌های این دو کلاستر برای دورگ گیری درجهت تولید واریته­ های اصلاح‌شده استفاده کرد.
