تشخیص گروه‌های هتروتیک بین جمعیت‌های در حال اصلاح، اطلاعات بنیادی برای کنترل آگاهانه هتروزیس فراهم می‌کند. هیبریدهای آزاد در یونجه می‌توانند از طریق انتخاب والدین و  تلاقی لاین‌های جزئی بدست آمده از دو تا سه نسل خودباروری آنها به منظور دستیابی به هتروزیس تولید شوند.‌ به‌منظور مطالعه ترکیب‌پذیری و هتروزیس برای صفات عملکرد کل ماده خشک علوفه، ارتفاع و سرعت رشد مجدد، اینبرد‌های جزئی انتخاب شده از نسل دوم خودباروری هشت اکوتیپ یونجه در قالب یک طرح تلاقی نیمه دی‌آلل مورد ارزیابی قرار گرفتند. بذور 28 دورگ نسل F1 به همراه والدین در دو مکان کرج و اراک کشت و به مدت دو سال (1394-1393) ارزیابی شدند . از روش گرافیکی GGE biplot برای تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌های حاصل استفاده گردید. بر اساس نتایج تجزیه واریانس، میانگین مربعات ترکیب‌پذیری عمومی و خصوصی و برهم‌کنش آنها با محیط در سطح احتمال یک درصد معنی‌دار گردید. روش گرافیکی GGE biplot نشان داد که والد نیک‌شهری دارای بیشترین ترکیب‌پذیری عمومی مثبت و والد کوزره و رهنانی دارای بیشترین مقدار ترکیب‌پذیری عمومی منفی برای تمامی صفات بودند. ترکیب‌پذیری خصوصی ناشی از دو والد خاص، نیک‌شهری با قهاوند و نیک‌شهری با سیلوانا برای تمامی صفات بیشترین مقدار را داشت. بطور کلی نتایج این تحقیق نشان داد که در بین والدین مورد بررسی هتروزیس کافی برای تولید و معرفی ارقام دورگ وجود دارد، بنابراین امکان استفاده از خودباروری و تلاقی بین اینبرد‌های جزئی منتخب (S2) برای بهدست آوردن هتروزیس بیشتر، از طریق تلاقی‌ بهترین سینگل‌کراس‌ها و تولید هیبرید‌های دوبل با تولید هیبرید‌های آزاد وجود دارد.
