     تکنیک اصلاح با موتاسیون یکی از مهم‌ترین ابزارهای ایجاد تنوع ژنتیکی به منظور انتخاب ارقام موتانت با خصوصیات زراعی مطلوب و یا بهبود ارقام زراعی موجود در گیاهان می‌باشد. تنوع ژنتیکی در گیاه برنج به دلیل ماهیت خودگشنی آن اندک است، بنابراین اصلاح این گیاه نیازمند به کارگیری روش‌های مختلف برای افزایش تنوع ژنتیکی می‌باشد. این آزمایش به منظور تعیین دز مناسب و بررسی میزان حساسیت ارقام بومی برنج عنبربو و گرده به پرتو گاما جهت افزایش تنوع ژنتیکی برای برنامه‌های اصلاحی انجام گرفت. آزمایش به صورت فاکتوریل بر پایه‌ طرح کاملاً تصادفی با چهار تکرار در دو شرایط گلخانه‌ای و آزمایشگاه صورت گرفت. بذور ارقام یاد شده بعد از تعیین میزان رطوبت مناسب (13- 11 درصد) با دزهای 100، 200، 250، 300 و 350 گری پرتو گاما حاصل از چشمه کبالت 60 پرتوتابی شدند. نتایج نشان داد که پرتو گاما باعث کاهش معنی‌دار مؤلفه‌های جوانه‌زنی گردید به‌طوری‌که پایین‌ترین میزان این مؤلفه‌ها در دز 350 گری مشاهده گردید. با افزایش دز پرتو گاما میزان رشد در هر دو رقم کاهش یافت به‌طوری‌که کاهش رشد رابطه خطی با شدت دز داشت. با افزایش میزان دز پرتو گاما کاهش معنی‌داری در تعداد و طول ریشه، درصد بقاء و تعداد و طول برگ هر دو رقم نسبت به شاهد مشاهده گردید. رقم گرده حساسیت بیشتری در برابر پرتو گاما نسبت به رقم عنبوبو نشان داد. بر اساس نتایج بدست آمده، دزهای 327 و 287 گری به ترتیب در رقم عنبربو و گرده به عنوان دز مناسب برآورد شدند. در نهایت، دزهای مناسب پرتوتابی جهت ایجاد تنوع ژنتیکی برای برنامه‌های اصلاح با موتاسیون در محدوده دزهای 250 تا 350 گری در هر دو رقم پیشنهاد می‌گردد.
