به منظور گروه‌بندی جمعیت‌های مختلف گندم وحشی با استفاده از صفات مورفولوژی، 27 جمعیت از مناطق مختلف جمع­آوری و مورد مطالعه قرار گرفتند. تمامی جمعیت‌ها در مزرعه آزمایشی و در قالب طرح بلوک­های کامل تصادفی در 3 تکرار در سال 1393 ارزیابی شدند. صفات اندازه گیری شده شامل طول ساقه با خوشه، طول خوشه با ریشک، طول خوشه بدون ریشک، طول ریشک، طول برگ پرچم، کرک­دار بودن برگ، طول پدانکال، طول سنبلچه، تعداد بذر در هر سنبلچه و وزن 100 دانه بودند. بررسی ضریب تغییرات فنوتیپی صفات نشان داد که بیش­ترین تنوع در صفات کرک­دار بودن  برگ و طول برگ پرچم مشاهده گردید. گروه­بندی جمعیت­ها بر اساس تجزیه خوشه­ای آن­ها را در سه گروه قرار داد که با گروه­بندی جغرافیایی تشابه کمی داشت و تنوع زیاد درون هر منطقه را نشان داد. همچنین بر اساس تجزیه به عامل­ها سه عامل تشخیص داده شد که در مجموع 65/76 درصد از تغییرات کل را توجیه می­نمودند. به­طوری که عامل اول با تخصیص 09/30 درصد از تغییرات کل که صفات کرک­دار بودن برگ، طول خوشه با ریشک، طول ریشک و تعداد بذر در هر سنبلچه توجیه نمود و به عنوان عامل مورفولوژی خوشه نام­گذاری گردید. مولفه دوم با توجیه 43/23 درصد از تغییرات کل عامل ارتفاع گیاه و مولفه سوم با تخصیص 12/23 از تغییرات کل عامل خصوصیات دانه نام­گذاری شد. نمودار بای پلات دو عامل اول جمعیت­ها را در سه گروه قرار داد.
