به ­منظور مکان­ یابی QTL­های مرتبط با تحمل به شوری و تعیین سهم هر QTL در تنوع فنوتیپی در شرایط مزرعه جمعیتی شامل 96 خانواده F2:3 حاصل از تلاقی ارقام خارچیا (والد متحمل) و گاسپارد (والد حساس) طی 2 سال ارزیابی شدند. از میان 92 نشانگر ریز ماهواره برای ارزیابی والدین، 32  نشانگر حالت چند شکلی داشتند که برای تجزیه استفاده گردیدند. بر اساس روش مکان­یابی فاصله­ ای مرکب سه عدد QTL برای صفت ارتفاع گیاه بر روی کروموزوم­ های DB3 و  B4 مکان­ یابی گردید که در مجموع این QTLها 37 درصد از تغییرات فنوتیپی را توجیه می­ کردند. سه عدد QTL نیز برای صفت اندازه گیاهچه بر روی کروموزوم ­های B7 و D7 یافت شد که جمعاً 38 درصد از واریانس فنوتیپی را توجیه می کردند. برای هریک ازصفات تعداد دانه در سنبله اصلی و وزن دانه سنبله اصلی دو عدد QTL بر روی کروموزوم D7 و برای صفت تعداد کل دانه نیز دو عدد QTL بر روی کروموزوم B4 شناسایی گردید. یک عدد QTL نیز برای هر کدام از صفات تعداد میانگره و طول میانگره بر روی کروموزوم D7 یافت شد که به ترتیب12 و 11 درصد از واریانس فنوتیپی را توجیه می­ کردند. برای هر یک از صفات تعداد سنبلچه، پنجه بارور و طول سنبله نیز یک عدد QTL بر روی کروموزوم B4 یافت شد که هر یک 12 درصد تغییرات فنوتیپی را توجیه می ­کردند. تجزیه ژنتیکی صفات پیچیده از قبیل تحمل به شوری و شناسایی مکان ­های ژنی کنترل کننده صفات کمی امکان انتخاب به کمک نشانگر را فراهم کرده و نهایتاً سبب بهبود کارایی گزینش می ­شود.
