به منظور ارزیابی تنوع درون واریته‌ای و پیشرفت اصلاحی عملکرد، اجزای عملکرد و کیفیت الیاف در لاین­های حاصل از سلکسیون پنبه رقم لطیف، آزمایشی به مدت سه سال (سال زراعی 96-1394) در ایستگاه تحقیقات پنبه هاشم‌آباد گرگان انجام شد. سلکسیون به روش پدیگری ماسال انجام و نمونه‌های انتخابی بصورت بوته به ردیف در سال­های آزمایشی پیش برده شدند. نتایج آزمون آماری صفات در سالهای آزمایش معنی‌دار بود. بیشترین ضریب تغییرات به­ترتیب مربوط به عملکرد لاین‌ها (23/8 درصد)، وزن دانه (10/7 درصد)، وزن غوزه، کیل الیاف و استحکام الیاف (8 تا 8/6 درصد) بود که اشاره به میزان تنوع واریته‌ای صفات مذکور داشت. عملکرد وش، کیل الیاف، طول، یکنواختی، کشش و شاخص کیفیت الیاف از توارث‌پذیری پایین برخوردار بودند. وزن غوزه، وزن دانه، وزن الیاف بیشترین توارث‌پذیری و پیشرفت ژنتیکی را داشتند. تعداد غوزه و تعداد دانه در غوزه به ترتیب بیشترین نقش را در تعیین عملکرد داشتند و بعنوان اجزای تعیین کننده و شاخص انتخاب به منظور بهبود عملکرد پنبه شناسایی شدند. همبستگی منفی و غیرمعنی‌دار عملکرد با درصد کیل و وزن غوزه نشان داد در صورت عدم اجرای سلکسیون سالانه، کاهش جزیی وزن غوزه و درصد کیل دور از انتظار نیست. میکرونری الیاف دارای همبستگی مثبت با درصد کیل (r=0.40**) و همبستگی منفی با وزن دانه بود که این امر لزوم توجه همزمان به میکرونری، وزن دانه و کیل الیاف در سلکسیون رقم لطیف را نشان می‌دهد.
