     خیار از جمله محصولات مهم کشاورزی است که به شکل­ های مختلفی توسط مردم ایران و جهان مصرف می‌شود. یکی از عوامل مهم در کاهش تولید این محصول شوری خاک و آب است. هدف از این تحقیق بررسی اثرات شوری سدیم کلرید (NaCl) بر صفات رویشی و فیزیولوژیکی خیار (Cucumis sativus L.) بوده است. در این تحقیق پس از رشد گیاهچه های خیار (یعنی پس از 8 هفته) گیاهان با غلظت ­های مختلف نمک شامل 25، 50، 75، 100 و 125 میلی­مولار آبیاری و تیمار شدند. پس از اعمال غلظت ­های شوری به ردیف‏ های مختلف گیاهان، نمونه ­برداری انجام شد. سپس برخی از صفات مانند تعداد و طول ریشه، وزن تر و خشک ریشه و اندام هوایی، تعداد برگ، کلروفیل نسبی و کلروفیل فلورسانس، میزان سدیم و پتاسیم اندازه­ گیری شد. نتایج حاصل از تجزیه و تحلیل داده ­ها نشان داد که غلظت ­های مختلف شوری موجب کاهش برخی پارامترهای رویشی و فیزیولوژیکی در گیاه خیار شد به طوری که بالاترین کیفیت صفات رویشی در گیاهان شاهد مشاهده شد و با افزایش غلظت شوری، کیفیت صفات رویشی کاهش یافت. بیشترین کاهش میزان تمام شاخص­ های اندازه گیری شده مربوط به تیمار حداکثری 125 میلی­مولار بوده است. همچنین بالاترین میزان پتاسیم اندازه ­گیری شده در اندام هوایی و ریشه مربوط به گیاهان شاهد و پس از آن تیمار 25 میلی‏مولار سدیم کلرید بود و کمترین میزان در تیمار 125 میلی­مولار سدیم کلرید بود. بیشترین میزان سدیم ریشه و اندام هوایی نیز به ­ترتیب در تیمارهای 125 و 100 میلی­مولار سدیم کلرید مشاهده شد. اعمال شوری موجب کاهش کلروفیل در گیاه شد و در نتیجه  برخی از گیاهان به ­دلیل کاهش سطح کلرو فیل دچار کلروز شدید شده و از بین رفتند که این مشکل در گیاهان باغلظت ­های بالاتر نمک بیشتر دیده شد.
